Hi, I'm Corinne — welfare-first trainer, lifelong dog person.
I'm a force-free dog trainer and behavior consultant based in the greater Sacramento area. My work centers on something simple but easy to miss: a dog who can learn well is, first and foremost, a dog whose welfare is genuinely met.
That conviction took years to land. I came to professional training the long way — through volunteering with rescue dogs at Blackberry Creek, through life with my own dogs Sampson and Sox, through certification programs that pushed me to look harder at the assumptions I was bringing to the work.
I trained in Switzerland and the United States, and I work in both English and German. I'm a co-founder of DOGLi, a welfare-focused training app, and I take what I learn from each client back to the wider community of force-free trainers I'm part of.
What that means for you: I'll never recommend a method that overrides your dog's signals to make a behavior happen faster. We'll work at the speed of trust, build skills that actually generalize, and make sure your dog has what they need outside of training so the training can stick.
The model I work from.
The Five Domains Model is the current scientific framework for assessing animal welfare. Rather than asking only whether an animal is free from suffering, it asks whether they have what they need to experience positive states — comfort, agency, connection. Every plan I write starts here.
Nutrition
Food, water, and feeding routines that meet your dog's needs.
Environment
A physical space that allows rest, retreat, and exploration.
Health
Comfort, mobility, and freedom from pain or discomfort.
Behavior
Opportunities to express natural, species-appropriate behaviors.
Mental State
The positive experiences that come from the four above being right.
Continuing education
matters here.
The science of canine cognition, welfare, and behavior is moving fast. I keep my certifications current and read the journals so my clients don't have to.
